Hit Pause and Take a Break

Yesterday, I had to just walk away from my desk at least three times. I was struggling with an issue on a client site, befuddled by a membership solution for our startup and stressing about a proposal I submitted last week.

I kept digging and tweaking and poking and cutting and pasting and reading and thinking and refreshing and aggghhh!!!. What the hell did I just do?! Somehow, I managed to make the problem worse and was in such a state that I just threw my hands up and walked away pondering a new life in anything that has nothing to do with a website.

Eventually, after a spending an hour hanging out with my kids, I returned, quickly solved the problem and everything is all good with the client site. I’m still befuddled and a bit stressed, but I’m ok with that.

One of the best things you can do for your business is to take a moment away from it.

Sometimes, you just need to come up for air. Go outside, take a walk, have a beer or whatever. Just take some time to recharge. You’ll return fresh and focused and ready for the next challenge.
